The new 4.0 has 6 individual tests in which to evaluate the dog, giving us more information to make a better analysis of whether we have a purebred or not. We take into consideration each test result and evaluate a dogs purity based on those results. Your dog may show inconclusive on one test and still be a purebred dog. Welcome to the Premiere American Biewer Terrier Club ....
Welcome to the official web site of the Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc., the premiere American Biewer Terrier Club. The BTCA, Inc. has been designated as the AKC parent club for the Biewer Terrier. As the foundation club to the Biewer Terrier, the BTCA, Inc. represents breeders and pet owners throughout the United States and around the World. The dedication and devotion of the members to adhere to the strict guidelines it takes to develop a new breed are to be commended. It has not been an easy road, but the rewards have been monumental, and whether you are a breeder or a pet owner, the love of the Biewer Terrier is the common bond of this club.
We will be taking you through the life of the Biewer Terrier, beginning in Germany with the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier a la Pom Pon, and ending in America with the Biewer Terrier. The BTCA was formed to educate the general public and breeders alike about the Biewer Terrier. We are also mindful about keeping America updated on the ever developing process a new breed goes through on its journey to full recognition as a purebred dog.
"Contacts and Links" will take you to the contact information for the board and committee members, as well as other related links that you may fine of interest. We hope we have covered everything, but if you have any questions, feel free to contact any one of the board members at any time.
If you do not have a BTRA registered Biewer and wish to register with BTRA, you will have to submit to the following guidelines to see if your dog is a purebred Biewer Terrier. Because of the registering of splitters and mix breeds by various registries, plus the lack of DNA profiling, we have had to require a testing procedure to protect the integrity and purity of the purebred Biewer Terrier. All non-BTRA registered dogs must undergo the Wisdom Panel cheek swab test 4.0 for registration consideration. For complete instructions on registering your dog, visit the Biewer Terrier Registry of America registration page.
The decision by the BTCA to allow BTRA to register the Chocolate and Gold Biewer Terriers came after much consideration and tests results received by BTRA. Although the Biewer Terrier may carry a brown gene, or a yellow gene, the Biewer Terrier is a uniquely colored dog with the ideal coloring being that of a black, white and tan(gold) head and a black and white body. Click through to the full standard.
We would like to encourage the general public seeking to learn more about the Biewer Terrier to explore our website. If you have questions that have not been addressed on our site, feel free to contact the board or any one of members as they are always willing to talk about the Biewer Terrier. Another great source of information is our Facebook page where you may also ask questions and see what the Biewer Terriers of America are doing. As you explore the Internet for information about the Biewer Terrier, please refer to the Parent Club for your answers.
Enjoy your visit and we hope you will go away with a better understanding of this rare, captivating breed, the Biewer Terrier. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance, if you are thinking about breeding, adding a new family member or just wanting to learn more about this endearing breed.
