What's New


Great News! The AKC Board is now allowing All-Breed and FSS Parent Clubs to Host FSS Open Shows. All-breed clubs will be able to host FSS Open Shows, and FSS breed Parent Clubs can hold an FSS Open Show for all FSS (including Miscellaneous Class) breeds. ADDITIONALLY,  your dogs will earn points towards a "Certificate of Merit", which is equivalent to the "Championship Title". This title "CM" will be denoted on your registration. Wisdom Panel Test Results Explained

The new 4.0 has 6 individual tests in which to evaluate the dog, giving us more information to make a better analysis of whether we have a purebred or not. We take into consideration each test result and evaluate a dogs purity based on those results. Your dog may show inconclusive on one test and still be a purebred dog. Article: I  Names and Objectives

Section 1. The name of the club shall be "Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc." a Nevada Corporation, hereinafter called the Club.

Section: 2. The objectives of the club shall be:
a. To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Biewer Terriers and to do everything possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.
b. To encourage the organization of independent Biewer Terrier Specialty Clubs in localities where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of The American Kennel Club.
c. To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as set forth by The Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc. and approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Biewer Terrier shall be judged.
d. To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition and conduct at dog shows, obedience, trials, companion or other events for which the Club may be eligible under the rules and regulations of The American Kennel Club, and any other Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc. sponsored activity or function.
e. To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, companion or other events for which the club may be eligible under the rules and regulations of the (AKC) American Kennel Club.

Section: 3.The Club shall not be conducted or operated for profit and no part of any profits, remainder or residue from dues and donations to the Club shall inure to the benefit of any member or individual.

Section: 4. The members of the club shall adopt and may from time to time revise such By-laws as may be required to carry out these objectives.

Reprimand: A written warning to a member after charges have been filed in accordance with the bylaws, and it is determined that the member’s conduct was not severe enough to warrant a suspension or a recommendation for expulsion.

Notices: All club notices must be sent via the US Postal Service or e-mail in accordance with current AKC policy.

Delegate Duties: For AKC member clubs only, the general duties of the Delegate must be listed.


Glossary of Terms in By-Laws and Constitution:

Members in Good Standing: An individual who is not suspended by The American Kennel Club or the Biewer Terrier Club of America and whose dues for the year are already paid.

Types of Membership: Article I; Section 1:

Regular (Individual): Enjoys all club privileges including the right to vote and hold office.

Household: Two adult members residing in the same household, each eligible to vote and hold office.

Foreign: For those individuals who are not U.S. residents or its territories. Shall be entitled to all club privileges except voting and office holding.

Junior Club Membership: Open to children under 18 years of age; a non-voting/non office holding membership which may automatically convert to regular membership at age 18. It is free with their parents paid membership.

Honorary Membership: An individual who has made significant contributions to the Sport, Breed or the Club; honorary members pay no dues and are not eligible to vote, but can maintain regular (or household) membership if they pay dues.

Life Time Membership: For those individuals who have been members for a long period of time (usually 20+ years); Life members pay no dues but are eligible to vote and hold office.


Votes on By-Law amendments: After amendments are voted upon, the club must provide AKC with the number of members in good standing as well as the date of the vote, and the number who voted for and against. A copy of the revised document must be submitted to AKC as soon as it is printed

***Mars testing can now be done with a cheek swab through the Wisdom Panel website. The "Cheek Swab Kit 4.0" is the only acceptable test for the Biewer Terrier***
