Dog Breeding Fundamentals Course
The Dog Breeding Fundamentals program takes a practical, step-by-step approach to the art and science of breeding. The goal is to provide a self-paced virtual study for dog breeders in a comprehensive program with the “need to know” information, such as canine anatomy, selection, kennel blindness, genetics, maternity, and managing your nursery. After completing each module, you will receive a virtual badge, points toward the course leaderboard, and valuable treats for future AKC Canine College products.
Neonatal and Reproductive Care Seminars by Myra Savant
Myra Savant-Harris is a well-known author of reproduction, whelping, and puppy intensive care books and DVD’s and is always generous with the knowledge from her experiences of breeding dogs. What is the CHIC Certification Program?
The OFA created the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) by partnering with participating parent clubs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds. We’ve established a recommended protocol for breed-specific health screenings. Dogs tested in accordance with that protocol are recognized with a CHIC number and certification.

Eye Examination by a boarded ACVO Ophthalmologist prior to the onset of breeding, recommend evaluations at 1, 3, and 6 Years of Age.

DNA Test DNA based PRCD-PRA test from an approved lab
• Primary Lens Luxation (PLL)
DNA based PLL results from an approved lab
• Patellar Luxation
Veterinary Evaluation. Results registered with OFA.
