BTCA Mentor Application - Biewer Terrier Club of America

The Biewer Terrier Club of America, Inc. has established the following criteria:

In accordance with AKC policies and best practices, the Club stives to have mentors that have been breeding and exhibiting for 12 years; however, considering the Biewer Terrier is still a young breed, the Club has established the following criteria to be an approved mentor:
- Mentors must be BTCA Club Members in good standing for a minimum of 3 years.
- Mentors must have at least 6 years of experience exhibiting in conformation events.
- Mentors must have bred at least 6 AKC registered litters.
- Mentors must have bred at least 4 Champion dogs
- Mentors must be recognized by AKC as a Breeder of Merit.
- Mentors must be willing to serve in this volunteer capacity.
- Mentors should represent a diverse geographic availability.

The following education is required from all applicants:

Complete the Biewer Terrier Breed Course (Canine College).
Complete the Anatomy Part A Part B (Canine College).
Attend the AKC Workshop on judge’s education

Attend a Club-provided workshop to learn the following:
- Learn the Role: Do’s and Don’ts
- Review all mentoring opportunities
  - Ringside Mentoring
  - Kennel Visit
  - Tutoring Session
- Review the AKC required Forms

To be considered as BTCA Breed Mentor the following must occur:

Complete a Judge’s Education Mentor Application and submit to the Committee Chair at JEC@BiewerTerrierClubOfAmerica.org
Submit supporting documents with the application that all required criteria have been satisfied.
Applications will be reviewed by the Judge’s Education Committee and forwarded to the Board of Director’s for final approval.
Approved mentors will be notified in writing of their role.

A list of approved mentors will be published on the Club website as well as the AKC website (Conformation Judges Resource Center).

I understand that by becoming a BTCA approved mentor, I am agreeing to mentor judging applicants, as well as participate in educational seminars at National Specialties. When called upon I will use only the BTCA Approved print material and handouts.
